Hi
Everyone,
It seems one of the competing attractions here on the upper cape has decided to add a zip line to their
“educational” offerings. Not to be outdone, but having a limited budget, Coonamessett Farm has decided to add
a similar attraction but in a more transparent way. So before we even begin to go thru the approval and procurement process
(Board of Selectmen, Appeals Board, Building Department, FDA, CIA, and Walmart we have decided to inform our membership in
this newsletter. The Coonamessett Farm Clothesline will stretch between two trees and, by the use of special pins; educational
signage will be displayed from the natural fiber line. The rumors that there may be some tax advantage to this scheme, I mean
attraction, may be true. We expect the project will be completed by Memorial Day weekend.
All fifty of our turkeys
have been sold though we have started a waiting list since we are not sure that there are only 50 turkeys; some new faces
have been seen in the rafter (flock or gang). Anyway, our staff has been trying to contact all those that reserved a turkey
to confirm the orders. If you have not confirmed please do so before next Saturday. We don’t require a deposit from
farm members as we know where you live. If you don’t pick up your bird you may wake up Thanksgiving morning with a turkey
head in your bed. Turkeys should be available for pick-up starting Saturday the 22nd except smoked turkeys; those may take some time. The birds need smoking; the cooks may be smoking- lots of variables
in farming.
Now for all the specials; place your pie order by the 20th and get a one dollar discount per pie. More importantly, with each pie you can get a quart of ice cream for only
$6.95 instead of the regular $8.95 price. Here is the discounted price list:
Jamaican
Rum Pumpkin Pie$12.95; Fruit of the Forest Pie $12.95; Apple Pie $12.95
Blueberry Pie $12.95; Pumpkin
Pie $10.95; Pecan Pie $10.95;
Squash-apple Bisque (Qt) $ 8.95
Pumpkin Bread $7.95;
Cranberry Apple Bread $7.95; Oysters $12.00/dozen.
Here is another
deal; if you call ahead we will take orders for scones and muffins at a very special price: $17.95 per dozen- that is more
than $5 off the regular price. Just let us know when you want to pick them up; you can chose from a selection when you get
here or be specific when you call.
Last but not least is reserving your gingerbread house. Gingerbread house construction
goes back to prehistoric times; though the confections then looked more like caves and the bakers were scary looking.Our bakers
have to construct the basic structures so that you can decorate so please plan ahead. You can choose what weekend day you
wish to decorate but we need lead time. Please call if you wish to pursue this activity.
